Siemens, the software technology giant, is now also into the
creation of the aviation- related software that promises to ease operations
at airport terminals and thereby help in smoothening the process, making it
easier for passengers.
Speaking exclusively to Express TravelWorld,
A S Viswanathan, executive vice president, global head - transportation and
airports, Siemens Information Systems said, "Our job is to make passenger
travel and airport handling simpler. We aim to make the job simpler for all
parties involved. It is a whole chain, a combination of technology and process
management."
He further added that the company has been working very closely
at Bangalore and Delhi airports after it successfully installed its software
at the new Hyderabad airport. According to him, the company facilitates and
provides integration of all links starting from check-in to the last check-out
required. The main aim, he said, is to provide an integrated system that displays
a non-conflicting view of all the information from the airside, passenger, air-operations
and ground. Further, he explained that the Indian airports are nowhere below
the international standards and there is a continuous readiness and willingness
to work towards maintaining standards. There is also a uniformity of process
ensuring the highest standards of operations. The company, he added, is constantly
creating solutions like mobile passenger solutions, biometric passenger processing
and other cheaper and cost effective solutions for large, medium and small airports
and an airport integration platform. Finally, the upcoming new airports in the
next two years will allow them to develop better software.
