In a move designed to present its tourism management information
and investment opportunities to the local, regional and global marketplace,
St Lucia, in the Caribbean islands, has signed up as a destination subscriber
on the new TourismROI website, according to Minister for Tourism, Senator Allen
Chastanet, speaking at the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference
in Trinidad.
TourismROI is the first centralised resource for tourism
management and investment information worldwide. It provides one central location
for public and private sector entities looking to attract partners for development
and for investors, business operators and entrepreneurs seeking new business
opportunities.
St Lucia joins Aysén, Chile; Montenegro; the Kingdom
of Tonga; Uzbekistan; Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Kansas City, Missouri, and
the State of Colorado, USA as one of the early adopters of the TourismROI service.
The St Lucia Government has identified a number of priority
investment areas for tourism, including construction of accommodation; the development
and marketing of natural heritage sites, and the creation of new attractions
and entertainment centres for visitors. TourismROI has been recognised by a
number of international public and private tourism organisations including the
Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) and the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA).
