LVCVA to announce representative office partner

Chetan Kapoor - Mumbai

John Bischoff
VP,
International Brand Strategy for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority

Realising the potential of the Indian market, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) will soon announce a representative office partner. In an e-mailed response to Express TravelWorld, John Bischoff, vice president of International Brand Strategy for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority said, "The Indian market is very important to Las Vegas and the cornerstone of our new international strategy for the future. We will announce a dedicated travel trade representative office partner in India within the next two months and will work with them to prepare our short and long term budgets - in proportion to the opportunities throughout India." According to him, Las Vegas has a truly unique experience to offer the Indian market - ranging from luxury destination amenities (golf, fine cuisine, entertainment, spas, night life and gaming) to fit every lifestyle and every travel budget.

Being a top tourist destination in the United States of America, the city is working with the McCarran Airport to initiate talks on arranging direct flights to Las Vegas. Also, the US Department of Commerce regards India as the number ninth overseas market and demonstrated a 39 per cent increase in a 2007 visitation. In addition, 53 per cent of its revenue is generated through non-gaming amenities, while 47 per cent can be contributed to revenue generated from gambling.

Bischoff adds, "Las Vegas is currently developing plans to host a series of Indian events to establish Las Vegas in the forefront of the Indian market. Our India-based office (to be announced during mid-summer) will take a leadership role in preparing that list."
