We are planning to launch our LCC with a build in concept
Delhi-based feeder airline Jagson Airline, is upbeat about
making its mark in the Indian skies. Uttam Bose, its president and CEO,
discusses his company plans with Bhavika Jhaveri
How do you plan to position yourself in the market?
The airline, which has so far flown from Delhi to hill resort destinations in
Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, will launch its operations with Delhi-Bangalore
flights on A321 aircraft with 80 seats in the premium category and 72 in the
economy class.
We will be the first private domestic airline in India and the first low-cost
with a 'build-in' concept.
Our main focus would be to bring in upper class train travellers. We want to
earn the loyalty of these travellers by introducing packages specially tailored
to their pricing, in-flight and on-ground expectations and by outsourcing services
like ground handling, e-ticketing and cargo.
What is the 'build in' concept?
It is a concept completely different from other airlines, which would be ready
only by April 2006. I can't disclose any more information.
What is your strategy?
The prospects for aviation are extremely bright. Even by capturing two per cent
of the middle class population of India, we can attain approximately four million
or forty lakh passenger. Our strategy is to focus on the corporate travellers,
economy class business travellers, frequent flyers of full service airlines
and upper class train travellers.
How many cities do you plan to cover in the initial phase?
We want to cover Delhi, Bangalore, Patna, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Jaipur,
Dibrugarh and Goa in the first phase. We will connect Lucknow, Kochi and Hyderabad
in the second phase. By 2007 end, Jagson should cover around 16 to 18 cities,
with maximum frequency from metro cities.
