Reema Sisodia - Mumbai
South Africa's hospitality chain Sun International Resorts and Hotels has recently
set base in India. It will be represented by Travreps in India and will make
Mumbai its headquarters. However, it will also be visible in other Indian metros
such as Bangalore, New Delhi, etc.
Speaking
about the entry into the Indian market and the business plan, Sadhna Ghookal,
international market manager (India) at Sun International (Southern Africa)
said, "Our decision to step into the Indian market with an active representative
office was the result of encouraging response from the region. We received large
number of visitors from India, especially in the last few years. Hence, it made
good business sense to further increase the business base and an office in the
region would only help speed up the process."
Amongst all its hotels, the Sun City Hotel has gained maximum publicity and
awareness in the Indian market due to a number of Indian celebrities and Bollywood
events being held there. Ghookal adds, "We are extremely glad that our
Sun City property is extremely popular amongst the Indian fraternity thanks
to the various shows and events that have taken place there. But now we want
to promote our other properties, which have an entire gamut of specialties to
offer like spa resorts, adventure tourism properties, luxury hotels, casino
resorts, etc. We want the Indian market to know more about these properties
and experience them." It has 23 properties in total.
