Goa Tourism Meet 2006
Goa is not only about sunny beaches; it is also the land of
colourful festivals and glorious history preserved in its traditional
homes, villages, old churches and temples. And it is this other
facet that Goa Tourism Meet 2006 plans to explore in a three-day
event this March.

Goa, the land of sun, sand and eternal beauty, is today one of the most sought-after
holiday destinations in the world with a charm that seems to be endless. One
of the smallest states in India located on the western coast, Goa is popular
for miles and miles of sunny beaches, lush green countryside, churches, temples
and rich culture which is a blend of Portuguese and Goan, lip-smacking cuisine
and of course, the feni.
But
very few people know that there is much more to Goa than just that. It is the
land of spectacular pageantry, colourful festivals and glorious history which
is preserved in its traditional homes, villages, old churches and temples. To
explore this aspect of Goa, Goa Tourism Meet 2006 is scheduled to be held from
March 10 to March 12, 2006 at Kala Academy, Panjim. The theme for this year's
meet is `Summertime in Goa'.
This three day-event is a combination of exhibitions as well as academic sessions
that will be held on 11 March 2006 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala
Academy, Panjim. The academic session will have industry stalwarts speaking
on various aspects of tourism. Some of the speakers attending the meet include
Jamshed Daboo, COO of Taj Leisure Hotels Division, Lenny Menezes, country manager
of Hilton International, Jeh Wadia, MD of Go Air, Heritage activist Heta Pandit,
Ramesh Negi, secretary tourism, Government of Goa, and many more.
Traditionally, Goa's peak season runs from October to March when more than 1.5
million tourists from all corners of the world and India visit Goa. Ironically,
from April to October, when Goa is at its best, there are very few visitors.
This year the Goa Tourism Meet will concentrate its efforts on making Goa a
truly '365 days' holiday destination.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on March 10 and will have stalls by hotels,
airlines, state tourism development corporations, handicrafts/cottage industries
from various states, Konkan railway, etc. This would be the right opportunity
for new as well as established businesses to further their business prospects.
The exhibition stall rates are Rs 10,000 for 3x3 and Rs 18,000 for 6x3. Delegate
fee for the event is Rs 1,500. Everyone is invited to be a part of this exciting
event and experience a new facet of their favourite holiday destination, Goa.
