Dubai joins hands with Kesari Tours to launch campaign

ETW Staff

Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), in association with Kesari Tours and The Medicine Shoppe, a franchisee chain of pharmacies in India, has launched a nationwide joint campaign to promote the destination.

The joint promotion titled `Season Special Dubai Promotion' is being conducted for a period of three months across 75 Medicine Shoppe outlets in India. These outlets will provide a coupon to customers who have made purchases for a specific amount. The coupons have a brief write-up on Dubai followed by two questions. At the end of the promotional period a lucky draw will be conducted.

Carl Vaz, country manager of DTCM India, said, "This joint promotion is an opportunity to reach out to a target market in the age group of 30 and above with a view to making their purchase decision more lively. Through this promotion we would be able to create a wider awareness about Dubai's myriad tourism offerings."

He further added, "Apart from being a shopper's paradise, Dubai has a lot more to offer. Desert adventure, water sports, golf, a vibrant night life, you name it and we have it. The destination is also famous for its dhow cruise ride along with international cuisine." He added that the Indian tourist traffic had increased from 1,20,000 in 1997 to 3,50,000 in 2004. The average growth over a period of last two years has been a phenomenal eight per cent."

Vaz said, "Through such promotions, it is our intention to not only increase awareness of Dubai as a tourist destination but also strengthen travel trade ties." This joint promotion will also provide Kesari Tours a larger platform to showcase its products. The DTCM expects to play an important role in boosting bilateral ties by promoting awareness of the opportunities Dubai has to offer in both business and tourism.
