TAAI Moots Joint Council Of Indian Tourism Associations

ET&T Staff - Colombo

With an aim to work in unity to address key concerns and goals pertaining the Indian hospitality and tourism industry and ensure a substantial success, TAAI is to collaborate with the other industry associations from the Indian travel and hotel sector - TAFI, FHRAI and HAI to form a 'Joint Council Committee'.

The core function of the Joint Council Committee (JCC) will be to lobby with the government on issues of infrastructure, tax reforms and certain government restrictions that hamper the growth of the Indian hospitality and tourism industry at a time when India is poised to grow exponentially in the sector.

Speaking to Express Travel & Tourism, Balbir Mayal, president of TAAI, said, "If we work as a single association there are certainly chances that we could get heard, but, in order to expedite proceedings for the tourism and hotel sector and show solidarity in our grave concerns it is imperative that we work together as one team with a common goal - which is the growth of the Indian tourism industry.

Further elaborating, Mayal, stated that talks have been on with various associations and we have reached a joint consensus on various issues. However, we have yet to seriously work on action plan if we need results, hence the need to form a JCC.
