SLTB Kickstarts US$ 1 Million Marketing Campaign For India

The Sri Lanka Tourist Board (SLTB) has introduced a brand new tourism marketing and promotion campaign for the Indian market. With a stipulated budget of US$ 1 million, SLTB aims at further increasing awareness of Sri Lanka's tourism potential in India.

Revealing this to the Express Travel & Tourism, Udaya Nanayakkara, chairman, SLTB said, "According to the tourist arrival figures into Sri Lanka, India is the country that registers the highest inflow. And these figures have been growing substantially over the past couple of years. On account of the vast and growing potential of the Indian tourists, SLTB in accordance with the government of Sri Lanka has conceptualised a unique marketing and promotion campaign for India solely. The campaign is specifically aimed at the Indian corporate and leisure traveller."

Further elaborating, Nanayakkara elucidated on the importance of India to the growth of tourism business in Sri Lanka and need to further penetrate new market of promotion in India. While metro cities will continue to be the prime focus of the campaign, SLTB is also chalked out plans to take its campaign to non-metro cities. While advertisement in Indian media will be main avenue utilised in its campaign, SLTB also plans to utilise its stipulated budget to conduct road shows in various cities in India.
