Somatheeram

Somatheeram Ayurvedic Beach Resort was established in the year1992 at Chowara, a place South of Kovalam, and situated 21 km from Trivandrum International Airport. Its sister concern Manaltheeram Ayurvedic Beach Resort was established a few years later, encouraged by the grand success of Somatheeram, which incidentally happens to be the world's first Ayurvedic Beach resort. Here their theme is to inculcate a true feeling of 'Body And Soul in Harmony With Nature". Their range of treatments aim to purify, rejuvenate, slim, rebalance and destress resulting in a health regaining holiday, these resorts also provide a stunning beach, organic food, yoga and meditation.

Ayurvedic is a perfect ancient medical science, its origin is said to be divine, traceable to about 5000 years. The word Ayur means Life and Veda means Knowledge. These resorts offer a variety of Kerala houses and cottages constructed mainly with granite and antique wood panels, these offer a breath-taking view of the sea. They have a total of 41 treatment rooms, 20 doctors and 90 therapists who provide the best Ayurvedic treatment one can offer. Apart from traditional standard ayurvedic packages they also offer herbal steam and bath facilities. Recreational facilities such as visits to ancient monuments, backwater cruises, hiking, wildlife sanctuary visits are some of the other value-added facilities that they offer.

The Department of Tourism-Government of Kerala has honored these resorts with Awards for Excellence in the category of 'Best Ayurvedic Center'. Since the last six years, they are also certified with the 'Green Leaf Status' for quality, purity, and consistency.
