Malaysia Airlines Hosts Global Aviation Safety Conference

Malaysia Airlines hosted its third global aviation safety conference in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur to address the potential safety deficiencies. The event organised by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) and IATA (International Air Transport Association) was attended by over 250 aviation safety professionals.

The main objectives of the two-day conference was to learn the latest developments on LOSA (Line Operations Safety Audit) and TEM (Threat and Error Management) which are integral components of an airline's safety management system. This allows airlines to have a diagnostic snapshot that enables them to maintain and increase existing margins of safety during normal flight operations.

Dato' IR Kok Soo Chon, the director general civil aviation, Malaysia, speaking on behalf of the Minister of Transport Malaysia said, "Great learning can be acquired by sharing information and it is timely that this conference is being held. It could only lead to safer skies. It is imperative that concentrated efforts are been made to ensure that air transport continues to be the safest in this millennium and beyond."

He praised the national airline for hosting this conference and for being one of 25 airlines that have conducted LOSA.
