Stark Triumphs At NY Festival

Stark Communications, the advertising agency for Kerala tourism, won the Finalist Certificate in the prestigious New York Festivals 2005 for its work on an advertisement released by corporation. New York Festivals, which has been showcasing the "world's best work" in advertising for the last forty-eight years, announced its Design, Print and Outdoor Awards recently.

This is the first time that an Indian has been recognised in this category. It was a full-page advertisement released by Kerala Tourism on the 125th anniversary of The Hindu that clinched the 'Best Copywriting' award for Swarup B R, one of the directors of Stark. Only a bronze and finalist certificates were awarded for 'Best Copywriting' this year. The letter confirming the award states, "We received 4,313 entries from 62 countries; so to have achieved Finalist status indicates that your work was in the top twenty percent of advertising excellence in the world. The entries were judged online by an international panel of 80 Creative Directors representing every major advertising center around the world." "The whole idea was to look at the communication from a refreshing, socially relevant perspective that made sense to both the brands - The Hindu as well as Kerala Tourism," said Swarup B R, writer and creative director of Stark.

The winning work will be showcased on www.newyorkfestivals.com. The winners will also be published in the next New York Festivals Annual of Advertising, the world's largest selling annual of its kind.
