Convention In Singapore Postponed
The much-talked about TAFI annual convention that was slated
to be held on August 11-14 2005 in Singapore has been rescheduled
to mid-September.
IATO,
ANVR Sign MoU To Boost Tourism
The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and the Algemeen
Nederlands Verbond Van Reisondernemingen (The Netherlands
Federation of Travel Agencies) or ANVR have agreed in principle
to work together for promoting tourism between the two countries
by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). They will
sign a formal agreement subject to the approval of the boards
of both organisations.

We are nearing the season for annual conventions of trade
associations. While the India Convention Promotion Bureau
(ICPB) and the Indian Association for Tour Operators (IATO)
have chosen August, for Travel Agents Association of India
(TAAI) the preferred month is September and for the Federation
of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) it is
October.

Tourism has become the 'brand' new focus these days. The finance
ministry, in the Union Budget 2005-06, raised the fund allocation
for tourism to Rs 786 crore from Rs 500 crore in 2004-05.
The allocation for tourism infrastructure is Rs 416 crore,
up from Rs 279 crore last year.
