Chhattisgarh Tourism Gets Professional
In
a recent development to enhance the tourism potential of the state, Chhattisgarh
Tourism Board (CTB) has decided to train tourist guides in the state and strengthen
the tourism infrastructure. This is being done considering the fact that tourism
is the key to solve the problem of unemployment as it has great potential for
job opportunities to varied sections of the people, whether skilled, semi-skilled
and unskilled workers.
To this effect, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board in collaboration
with Indiatourism, Mumbai is conducting the first regional and state level guide
training courses in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, from May-July 2005 to make available
expert guide services to visiting tourists in and around Raipur and in the western
region. The training programme will cover among other subjects, history, art,
architecture, culture, travel formalities, etc. with extensive practical training.
The tourism minister of Chhattisgarh State, Brijmohanji Agrawal inaugurated
the regional and state level guide training courses. For a start, about 40 guides
are expected to be ready for the profession by the next tourist season.
