Robinson Scandinavia Gets Exclusive Representation In India Through HANS

Reema Sisodia - Mumbai

The Scandinavian region finally gets exclusive representation on the Indian travel and tourism soil. Robinson Scandinavia, a 20-year-old international company has recently entered into an exclusive tie-up with HANS Adventure Holidays Private Limited (HAHPL) to promote, market and sell the Scandinavian region in India.

Elaborating on the exclusive tie-up and plans on promoting Scandinavia in India, group captain (Rtd) Hemant Khatu, director, HAHPL, said, "The thought to seriously promote this untapped region into India was a fall out of personal research and extensive travel across Scandinavia. My observation highlighted the fact that Indian visitors to the region was scarce especially beyond Oslo. We thus felt that there was a market within India for a region as niche as this because today the Indian traveller is also discerning and is looking beyond the regular run of the mill destinations.

Adding further Khatu said, “I got in touch with various regional tourist broads. The feedback received from most tourism units was that they were yet not prepared to look into India, as China and Russia was still their focal markets. It was due to the good offices and efforts of the company GoEscorted.com, we finally managed to get the status of being a GSA of Robinson Scandinavia in India."

Explaining further about the packages and pricing, Khatu detailed, "Initially, we have chalked out a total of three itineraries, namely,

1) Basic tour

2) Bird Safari and Whale Safari visit in Lofoten Island, Norway, Sami Settlement in Sweden and the Ice Sculptures along with the Basic tour.

3) North Cape - The northern most point of mainland Norway could also be combined along with the basic tour

Each package has been reasonably priced with a suitable tariff, ranging from Rs 1.62 lakh to 2.6 lakh, the days varying from 12 to 16 days. We plan to launch our packages from mid-May 2005. Our aim is to have atl east three tours of the basic price of 20 people each visiting the region in a month. Each tour would also have a tour leader. There would also be summer packages, which would commence from May 2005 to September 2005 and later we also plan to chalk out exclusive winter packages. We plan to sell this product through agents in the trade.
