Egypt Air To Consolidate Position In India

Charmaine Fernz - Mumbai

Amr Elheny Elfeky

In a effort to tap the potent Indian market, Egypt Air has strategic plans to further consolidate its position. Says the recently appointed Amr Elheny Elfeky, regional manager India, Egypt Air, "With a good two flights out of Mumbai, we are looking at consolidating our position in the country. Plans are afoot at the moment and talks are on to commence our Delhi operations, which would also be two a week. There is a growing trend where people now want to explore Egypt as a destination and to cater to this segment, we would be bringing out specially tailored packages. These packages would range right from short stays of three days to as long as seven days. Packages are also being designed for transit passengers, thereby giving them a feel of the country in a brief visit. These packages would be made available to our Indian customers by early November and will be mainly focused on the Christmas traffic."

With an India-specific focus in place, Elfeky elaborated on future plans, stating that, "Our aim is to tap the mid- and up-market segments for which we would utilize advertising mediums such as trade magazines, emails and an effective website. We have a sales policy wherein we offer special discounts to travel agents on special flights. We are also in talks with domestic carriers to smoothen our interline connections. There would be promotional fares coming up for the Sharjah route. Plans are being contemplated to set up an international call center and toll free number to facilitate our passengers."
