Galileo India, Kuoni Academy Of Travel Announce Joint Training Initiatives

Galileo India Pvt Ltd recently announced the launch of GIFT 1.0, an interactive CD-ROM based self learning tool, to enable the travel agency staff and students to attain training on Galileo’s Central Reservation System (CRS) in the convenience of their own offices, schools and homes. GIFT 1.0 will be jointly promoted by Galileo India and Kuoni Academy of Travel to travel agency staff and students.

Speaking on the occasion Seema Luthra, president and CEO, Galileo India, said, “The travel industry is on the threshold of rapid expansion, and as a result, there is a rising demand for trained professionals. With such initiatives, we are hoping to ensure that this demand is met effectively, thus benefiting the industry”. The launch function preceded the certificate awarding ceremony of students of the airline diploma course of the Kouni Academy of Travel (KAT).

Added Vijay Chadda, member secretary-board of governors, Kuoni Academy of Travel “The academy is proud to declare that it has been successful in bringing in quality professionals to the industry. With the tourism sector growing by leaps and bounds, we hope to equip the industry by providing world class professionals to cater to its need”.

Kamal Hingorani, vice president and head, Kuoni Academy of Travel in his ‘vote of thanks said the travel and tourism industry in shining India is poised to grow at 10 per cent annually for the next 10 years, thereby adding 10 million jobs to the current employment of 24 million. Hence KAT is building bridges towards enrichment of the organised sector in Travel and tourism sector, as also towards President Kalam’s vision of a developed India by 2020.”

The KAT launched its first centre in New Delhi last year, which is fully equipped with ultra modern facilities, sophisticated training aids, customised software and carefully selected faculty, to offer excellence in travel and tourism education.

It has opened its second centre at Hyderabad. The year 2004 will further witness the opening of similar centres in other metros like Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata etc. The academy has a central team comprising of highly successful professionals from the travel and tourism industry.

Galileo India has tied up with the Kuoni Academy of Travel and accorded it the status of ‘Galileo Certified Academy”. The faculty of the academy is trained extensively and certified by Galileo, offering training to students on Galileo’s products in an on line environment. Galileo also supports the Academy by providing the infrastructure required for training.
