Galileo-ET&T Awards Statuette Unveiled At TAAI 2003

The statuette of the Galileo - Express Travel & Tourism (ET&T) Awards which has been established to honour organisational and individual excellence among the travel industry professionals, was recently unveiled at the TAAI annual convention held in Malaysia by Dato Abdul Kadir Bin HJ Sheikh Fadzir, minister of culture, arts and tourism, Malaysia. Also present at the unveiling ceremony were Jehangir Katgara, president, TAAI, Gulu Jagtiani, chairman, TAAI Convention Committee 2003, Seema Luthra, CEO and president, Galileo India, Maharaj Wahi, president, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and other professionals from the trade. The statuette has been titled ‘Columbus’, in memory of Christopher Columbus who is synonymous with travel and is known as the unmatched pioneer, challenging the unknown to either find a way or make one.

Nomination forms will be circulated in October. All nominees will have a month to send in their entries. The advisory board of Express Travel & Tourism that comprises of experts and professionals from the travel trade have played a major role in formulating the criteria for the awards.

Scheduled to be held in December 2003 at New Delhi. The award has been specifically designed with an aim to honour professionals across categories like airlines, travel agencies, tour operators, tourism boards and many more. This glamourous event will play host to the top brass of the Indian travel and aviation industry from across India with professionals and celebrities from various stratas of society participating in this mega event.

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India P Ltd, consultants and research partners to this exclusive affair have finalised the various criteria and categories of the afore-mentioned awards.

The criteria for nomination will focus and take into account creativity and enhancement in the specified field. This endeavour has been greatly appreciated by all noted hospitality and travel associations in India that have expressed their support for this initiative.
