Galileo-ET&T Award Statuette To Be Unveiled At TAAI

ET&T Staff - Mumbai

The statuette for the Galileo-ET&T Awards will be unveiled at the TAAI Annual Convention to be held in Malaysia from September 20-23. Named after a famous travel icon, the statuette, which stands for excellence, spirit of exploration and pioneering efforts, will recognise these attributes in the industry.

Established by Express Travel & Tourism in collaboration with Galileo India, the Awards seek to honour organisational and individual excellence among travel industry professionals. It is the first ever non-governmental awards for the tourism industry – a genuine benchmark for the entire travel fraternity.

Nomination forms will be sent out in the first week of October. All nominees will have one month to send in their entries.
Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt Ltd, the international audit and research firm appointed as consultants and research partners, are in the process of forming the parameters, criteria and the awards process with leading industry experts.

The awards ceremony will be held in December 2003 in New Delhi. Professionals cutting across categories like airlines, travel agencies, tour operators, tourism boards and many more will be honoured.

The criteria for nomination will focus and take into account creativity and enhancement in the specified field. They will be measured against stringent qualitative and quantitative industry benchmarks in order to determine the highest standards of excellence practised.

“In our endeavour to honour organisational and individual excellence amongst travel professionals across categories such as airlines, travel, agencies, tour operators and tourism boards, it was important to guarantee that the entire process, beginning with research, was done by a completely unbiased neutral organisation of international repute. Deloitte Touche fitted the bill perfectly and we are glad to appoint them as our research partners in this prestigious project,” said Seema Luthra, CEO and president, Galileo India.
