Mad Rush For Air Tickets To Gulf

The heavy traffic to West Asia during this Onam season has toppled the normal routine of the travel industry.

The season of Gulf travel started July when almost all expatriates come down to celebrate Onam on their one month-long holiday. By September the season closes with the vacationers returning.

All flights from Thiruvananthapuram to the Gulf sector are therefore witnessing heavy rush of passengers over the past few weeks. Seats in all the flights to the sector till September 15 are full. First time travellers to Gulf and prospective employees are at the receiving end as almost all of them are placed in waiting lists for tickets. And travellers to America and Europe by flights via Gulf countries have also been affected by this season’s heavy outflow.

On an average, 1000 persons travel to the Gulf daily from the state in this period.
